Fans, Rabbits, and Amazing Asians

Hey folks!

We have officially finished our first full week of being at the school here in Seoul! I must say, it was amazing. We seriously have the most amazing students. They are so loving and accepting of us. They also take care of us like crazy. Being here really feels about as close to southern hospitality as you can get without actually being in the South.
Anyway, ministry things have been great. I've been getting to know the students a lot better and I feel like God is starting to show me the people He wants me to minister to. I think a lot of my purpose for being here this summer is to do some discipleship stuff with some of the Believers. I'm really of the opinion that my time here is very short, so getting the Believers here to a place where they can tell their classmates about Jesus is, in the long run, a lot more beneficial because I'll be gone in August. That's not to say that I'm not going to try really hard to share the Gospel with people who haven't met God yet. I really feel like God has laid 2 girls on my heart to minister to that I live with. I'm super excited because they've agreed to do a Bible study with me this Wednesday. I'm hoping to make it a regular thing.

Something that has been so incredibly amazing to see is the progress that Grace has made. As a lot of you may know, Grace is the girl that I felt really burdened for last summer and felt led to minister to and she met God at the end of the summer. All year I've been concerned about whether or not she was actually going to live out her faith. Well I quickly found out that concern was for nothing...Grace is a totally different person now. She has God flowing out of her all the time. She gets up at 5am everyday to pray and read her Bible for an hour. She intensly prays before she goes to bed. She goes to church every Sunday and is really involved there. She's been memorizing scripture. The other night I started talking with her about the past year, and we talked about how she felt when she found out her dad died (she found out he passed away in the North in January). She talked about how sad she was but then she said, "Because of God's grace, I am not sad anymore." Wow. How amazing is that? I was completely blown away. You can just tell that the Holy Spirit is resting on her. I am in constant amazement of what God has done in her.
One of my favorite things that I've been able to do so far is spend a lot of time with Jade. She's my age and she's definitely one my favorite people in the whole world. She speaks really good English. She's one of the funniest people I've ever met and she loves Jesus SOOO much. I got to know her really well the last month I was here last year and we basically picked up where we left off when I got back. I really am excited about discipling her. A few days ago she got to explain to me in more detail about her story of how she got to Seoul. For a lot of reasons, I can't explain in detail what she told me, but basically she shouldn't be alive, if things had gone the way they normally do. God spared her life. It is absolutely phenomial to see where God has brought her. I have no doubt that he has something very, very special for her to do with her life.
So there are a few random things I wanted to share. This past weekend I spent the night at the apartment I used to live in last year and it was so great because I got to sleep on a couch (I sleep on the floor at my normal apartment.) and I got to sleep with a fan. At my normal apartment we just have a window to open. It's been an epic battle between me and my roommates because they want the window closed, and I want it open. It's been in the high 80s here and there's no A/C, so it gets quite warm when you sleep. Anyway, this weekend was awesome because I FINALLY got to sleep with a fan. So I got back to my apartment last night, and as I was taking a shower I was praying and telling God that I didn't know how I was going to go back to sleeping in a 90 degree room with no window open and I was asking him to please let them want to open the window. Well I get out of the shower and two fans magically appeared. I was so insanely happy. I couldn't stop smiling for like 5 minutes. Then I realized I was being a spoiled American, so I calmed down some, haha. All that to say, God provides, even the small things. And also I don't think I'm going to die of a heatstroke anymore.
Another random tidbit that I wanted to share was that last week we had this meeting at a camp that we're doing at the end of the summer. Well we all arrive at the church we're meeting at and one of my team members show's up with the little bag, like you would put a present in. I look in it, and there's a live rabbit in there. The teacher she lived with has a rabbit named Today and a baby rabbit named One Day and she thought it would be a good idea to give my teammate, Rachel, One Day to carry around at the meeting. We had a lot of prayer time and I couldn't help but keep looking over at this bag with a rabbit in it and busting out laughing. How random???
Anyway, this past weekend was pretty awesome as well. Jade took us girls shopping and then the whole team plus a bunch of our students went out to karaoke. Karaoke here is AMAZING! We had such a good time and bonded with our students. Last night I got to cook dinner for a bunch of students. I made pancakes and eggs. They don't normally have that, so it was cool to be able to share a little bit of my culture with them.

I think that sums up my past week! Please continue to pray for these students. One student in particular got some really bad news about her family. Please pray for her. Also pray that God will keep giving us opportunities to share his love and Gospel. Also pray that God will give me the wisdom to lead my team and that we will stay unified.

Thanks so much for you support!

So there's also a few random things I wanted to share. First of all,
